LEADING motoring association MotorEasy is marking World EV Day (Sept 9) by offering drivers of electric vehicles a bonus six months’ warranty.

The global event aims to highlight the role of EVs in the move towards net-zero emissions and is backed by governments and manufacturers. Duncan McClure Fisher, founder and CEO of MotorEasy, said: “We’re seeing a huge rise in the number of EV-owning customers looking to protect their vehicles, especially batteries and other expensive parts. “We were the first in the UK to offer a direct EV extended warranty to include drive battery protection, which gives the ultimate peace of mind against expensive repairs.Drive batteries do the majority of the ‘heavy-lifting’ to power electric cars and if they fail outside the manufacturer’s warranty they can cost more than £5,000 to replace. A lot of other common components can also carry high repair bills, making some EVs up to 10 times more expensive to fix and get back on the road than traditional cars. This includes the control module, air conditioning, steering, sensors and brakes. We are delighted to add our support to World EV Day and are marking the global event by offering customers an extra six months cover when they take out a 12-month EV warranty with us.”

The second-ever World EV Day, on September 9, is looking to build on the successful of 2020’s inaugural event by “celebrating e-mobility and shifting the transition to sustainable transport with consumer, business and policy outcomes”.

MotorEasy is a leading motoring association that provides a host of benefits and services to its customers. These include warranties, servicing and repairs, GAP insurance, cosmetic cover, vehicle finance and breakdown cover.
